Directed the Executive Director, Social Development, Finance and Administration to report to the September 5, 2019 Economic and Community Development Committee meeting on opportunities to engage non-profit organizations to provide youth mentoring programs with a target intake age of between 7-11 years of age living in the Neighbourhood Improvement Areas in Scarborough as a pilot project.

2. Directed that the review should provide a summary of City of Toronto departments and organizations already providing youth mentoring programs in the Neighbourhood Improvement Areas in Scarborough. 3. Directed that the report should include how organizations can implement the 40 Developmental Assets which young people need to thrive. Half of these assets focus on external assets the relationships and opportunities they need in their families, schools, and communities. The remaining focus on internal assets; commitment to learning the social-emotional strengths, values, and commitments that are nurtured within young people.

In March 2014, the City of Toronto identified 31 Toronto neighbourhoods to be designated as Neighbourhood Improvement Areas (NIAs) under the Toronto Strong Neighbourhoods Strategy 2020 (TSNS2020). To support the work of TSNS2020 in the 31 NIAs, the City produced Neighbourhood Improvement Area profiles for each of the 31 designated neighbourhoods. The demographics of the NIAs are presented below in statistical profiles and maps.
