The purpose of this Motion is to request City of Toronto Council's support in requesting that the Toronto Police Services Board, through the newly announced neighbourhood officers' program, establish a Community Police Office in Lawrence Heights, as this new neighbourhood officers' program has been created to better serve and enhance community policing. Since 32 Division, which serves the Lawrence Heights Community, is located 8.4 kilometres away, there is a need for a permanent Police Office in the Lawrence Heights community, given the ongoing challenges the community of Lawrence Heights and surrounding community is having with gun violence and other criminal activity.
