As the city filed it
Former City Councillor Michael Feldman held office for 18 years in York Centre. Before being elected to City Council in 1992, Mr. Feldman was a successful businessman who founded Teela Data Management, a company specializing in real estate information. During his time as City Councillor, Mr. Feldman served as Deputy Mayor. He was a champion for local and City-wide issues. He was also a chair of the Metro Housing Development Corporation, a public housing agency serving the municipality of Metropolitan Toronto, whose constituent municipalities would form the merged City of Toronto after 1997.

In York Centre, Mr. Feldman is known for championing and raising funds for the colourful mural on the wall of the 401 at the southeast corner of Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue. His vision for the City has been inspired by European traditions, such as the idea of creating bicycle lanes that are truly separated from lanes for motorized vehicles. He always visualized a City in which pedestrians can walk along streets in York Centre and look through the windows of local businesses, as they can in many downtown areas. The Wilson Heights Parkette sits in the heart of Bathurst Manor where much of Mr. Feldman's work was directed. There are currently two Wilson Heights Parkettes which usually causes confusion so this renaming is fitting.
