This Motion seeks City Council's authorization for the City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Urban Alliance on Race Relations in order to receive funding to support up to fifteen part-time positions created in Council Member Offices to support the Muslim Youth Fellowship Internship Program in 2020. Placements in Council Member's Offices are scheduled to start in January 2020. Thirteen Council Member's Offices participated in the Muslim Youth Fellowship in its inaugural year in 2018 as well as thirteen in 2019.

This program has proven to be a success for both the Fellows and the City, and should continue in 2020. A number of under-represented communities have approached Urban Alliance on Race Relations to explore the possibility of expanding the program based on the model created by and in full partnership with the Muslim Youth Fellowship. The program is designed to increase participation in civic engagement among Muslim youth. Full funding for the program, will be provided by Urban Alliance on Race Relations unless an agreement for partial support for the program with the City is reached.
