On the agenda

As the city filed it

This section of Old Weston Road is classified as a minor arterial, with residential uses predominating along the length of the area from Davenport Road to Rogers Road, plus residential neighbourhood in the vicinity. General Mercer Public School is located at Turnberry Avenue, just behind a row of houses that line Old Weston Road from numbers 607-670. The land use in the area brings many pedestrians, including school children, onto the sidewalks and into the right-ofway for street crossings.

Pedestrians are being hit and close-calls happening frequently. Residents have strongly outlined the need for a safer street, which I strongly support. Therefore I am recommending by way to this letter to reduce the speed limit on Old Weston Road, from Davenport Road to Lavender Road, from 50km/h to 40km/h.
