On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, the Toronto and East York Panel of the Committee of Adjustment (the "Committee") refused Application A0655/20TEY brought by the owner of 65 Langley Avenue (the "Applicant") for a minor variance in order to permit a parking space in the front yard to serve the existing three-storey detached dwelling. On November 23, 2020, the Applicant appealed the Committee of Adjustment's decision to the Toronto Local Appeal Body.

65 Langley Avenue was subject to a previous minor variance application, approved in part by the former Ontario Municipal Board in 2016. The previous minor variance application included a request for variances to permit a parking space in the front yard, which were not approved in the Ontario Municipal Board Decision. This Motion will authorize the City Solicitor to attend the Toronto Local Appeal Body in opposition to the Application, and to secure the necessary authorization and resources to support the City's position. This Motion is time sensitive and urgent as the Committee's decision has been appealed and the City Solicitor requires instructions to attend the hearing.
