The Toronto and East York Community Council: 1. Authorized the amendments to traffic regulations on Essex Street, as described in Attachment 1 - Amendments to Traffic Regulations, attached to the Letter (June 12, 2020) from Councillor Layton.

In April 2020, City Council adopted the Item IE12.8 and in so doing, authorized the installation of contra-flow bicycle lanes and cycle tracks including the associated traffic and parking amendments at certain locations including Shaw Street, Harbord Street to Dupont Street (http://app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2020.IE12.8). Additional technical amendments are required for Essex Street to address an omission to the traffic regulations previously submitted.

The changes proposed on Essex Street are a matter that Community Council has delegated authority from City Council to make a final decision. This matter is urgent on account of work on Shaw being completed shortly.
