On the agenda
As the city filed it
I am asking for your support for a comprehensive road safety review to be completed in the Gerrard and Norwood area. The need for careful but urgent review of this areas was highlighted by a recent and shocking pedestrian collision at the intersection of Gerrard and Norwood. This motion follows many years of advocacy from the surrounding community and a petition submitted to me in the week City operations began shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This section of Gerrard Street, particularly within the area from Woodbine to Main, poses many safety challenges for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. The streetcar route running through Main and Gerrard adds significantly to a high number conflicts in the area. Overall, streetcars tracks, parking configurations, grade changes, curvature in the road, and adjacency to the Ted Reeve arena, GO Station and TTC stations make this a priority area for improvement.
