Parent council and staff at Saint Paul VI Catholic Elementary School reported cars driving too fast for the narrow and crowded street, especially during pick-up/drop-off hours. My office and these concerned parties have been looking for ways to make Laughton Avenue a safer street for everyone walking or driving along it. I performed an on-site visit along with Transportation Services staff and concerned residents. We witnessed a few instances where cars were speeding while children were being dropped off a bus or other cars.

Laughton Avenue have also reported a similar situation by Wadsworth Park. Speed humps were identified as a possible solution by staff and endorsed by residents. Therefore I am requesting, by way of this motion, that Toronto and East York Community Council waive polling requirements and have speed humps installed along Laughton Avenue, from St. Clair Avenue West to Davenport Road as soon as possible.
