As the city filed it

I am writing to you to request Community Council's support for a motion that is important to the constituents of the Toronto-St. Paul's ward, but one that could not be brought forward by staff due to the impacts of the pandemic on staff redeployments. The area around Winona Drive and St. Clair Avenue West has been experiencing a high amount of development as of late, as well as some proposed condominium developments in the near future.

As with many areas of the city, such work brings in an influx of heavy vehicles as well as changes the patterns of traffic and parking in the community. My office has been receiving increasing complaints about the way existing parking by-laws are not addressing the needs of the community and are actually making the situation unsafe. Specifically, the area of Winona Drive just north of St. Clair Avenue West has been highlighted as one where the 'no parking' by-law is frequently disregarded, in effect creating an unsafe space for motorists and for the many pedestrians in the area. In order to improve the situation, my office has worked with staff from Traffic Operations and Work Zone Coordination to propose an adjustment of the existing by-laws. Councillor Bailão's office has also been advised of this proposal as this is located at the boundary between our two wards.

Toronto and East York Community Council rescind the existing parking prohibition in effect at all times, on the west side of Winona Drive, between St.
