City Council on July 14, 15 and 16, 2021, adopted the following: 1. City Council request the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to increase efforts in addressing and assessing the LDD Moth (European Gypsy Moth) infestation across the City, particularly in areas where there is a high degree of infestation on both public and private property, in order to further understand what can be done to mitigate future LDD Moth (European Gypsy Moth) infestations: a.

Seven Oaks is a beautiful community located in Scarborough-Guildwood bounded by Hwy 401, Ellesmere Road, Morningside Avenue to Markham Road. For several years, the community has experienced an alarming increase of the LDD Moths (European Gypsy Moth) infestation. Negatively impacting the safety hazard of the community and its urban tree canopy. LDD Moths consume the regeneration tissues of trees causing them to expire, contact with the LDD Moth can also cause skin irritation.

There is an alarming growing number of LDD Moths in the community, it has become necessary for further action from the City to protect individuals in the community as well as the threatened tree canopy. Request the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to increase their efforts in addressing the LDD Moth (European Gypsy Moth) infestation in the Seven Oaks Community located in Scarborough-Guildwood; where there is a high density of oak trees and other species of trees impacted by the infestation on both public and private property to understand what can be done to deal with the annual LDD Moth (European Gypsy Moth) infestation: a.
