City Council on March 10, 2021, adopted the following: 1. City Council direct the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to review the policy on designating park districts to ensure that the former Borough of East York is recognized as separate from the other legacy municipalities. 2. City Council direct City Divisions to ensure that any designations of "East York" conform to the historic pre-amalgamation boundaries.

3. City Council direct the City Clerk to put actual map boundaries on the Toronto and East York Community Council website which clearly delineates the boundaries of the former City of Toronto and the former Borough of East York, as well as the parts of North York Community Council which cover areas of the former Borough of East York, and City Council direct the City Clerk to advise Google of their geographic mistake and request a correction. 4. City Council request the City Clerk to report directly to the December 15 and 16, 2021 meeting of City Council, if all the necessary corrections have been made.

Residents of East York, particularly those who remember when their small but mighty borough fought against the Harris Government over amalgamation, are fiercely proud and protective of the legacy of the Borough of East York. Recently they have noticed that there are parks all across Toronto that were listed as being in East York - of particular note was one in the West Don Lands. In 2018, Economic Development and Culture division listed the Don Jail tour as being in East York in the City-wide Open Doors promotional material.

East York residents who are passionate about maintaining the local history want to ensure that the City of Toronto, which represents all amalgamated cities, is conscious of helping to maintain this local history. One small way the City can help is to ensure that the internal businesses practice is to use East York to refer to only locations in the former Borough of East York.
