As the city filed it

My office recently attended an onsite meeting at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic School. In attendance were the Trustee, Superintendent, the Principal of the school, the Catholic School Parent Council (CSPC), and Traffic Operations staff from the City of Toronto. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ongoing concerns about parking at the school, specifically during pick-up and drop-off times. St. Mary of the Angels is located at the intersection of Dufferin Street and Davenport Road.

The front of the school faces Dufferin Street and so to avoid traffic and for the safety of the students, parents drop-off their children on Bristol Avenue which is located at the back of the school where parking is prohibited from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. In an effort to manage the situation, the school has encouraged families to engage in a "kiss and ride" approach, which works for older students, but does not work for kindergarten parents who have to walk their children to the courtyard between the school before the start of the day. Because of the parking prohibition and without a dedicated pick-up and drop-off zone, many parents have received tickets. As a result, and in consultation with the various stakeholders, I am requesting approval to designate a maximum of 15 minutes to allow parents to park on the west side of Bristol Avenue and provide safe pick-up/drop-off as recommended below.
