Thanks to my work with FCM and City staff, FCM has advanced digital affordability advocacy across all municipalities in Canada including a recommendation that the federal government takes a range of measures to improve the affordability of telecommunications services. This issue was heard at the March 2022 Municipal Infrastructure and Transportation Policy Standing Committee and was reported to City Council as part of item EX32.1 ConnectTO Program Update. The attached report notes this item and the full range of items considered at the FCM March 2022 meetings. The City of Toronto posts the reports on the FCM Board of Directors meetings at https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/accountability-operations-customer-service/city-administration/city-managers-office/intergovernmental-affairs/federation-of-canadian-municipalities-translate/.
