Participation in the sport of Pickleball has grown exponentially over the past few years. The City of Toronto has painted pickleball lines on several existing tennis courts, however, there is a need for dedicated pickleball courts in Etobicoke-Lakeshore. Working with the Etobicoke Pickleball Association, we have identified two parks where exclusive pickleball courts may be appropriate. These parks were identified based on current community usage, and their proximity to other parks with tennis courts, parking, washrooms, and transit Rotary Peace Park, 25 Eleventh Street, currently has two outdoor tennis courts which could be converted to up to three exclusive pickleball courts.

The park is located approximately one kilometre away from Prince of Wales Park, which has four outdoor tennis courts. Coronation Park, 10 Judson Street, was formerly the site of a lawn bowling club. The existing, unused lawn bowling pitch could be converted to a purpose-built pickleball facility with up to eight new courts.

Councillor Mark Grimes recommends to the Etobicoke York Community Council that: 1. The General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation be requested to study the feasibility of converting the existing tennis courts at Rotary Peace Park to pickleball courts, in consultation with the local City Councillor. 2. The General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation be requested to study the feasibility of constructing new pickleball courts at Coronation Park - Etobicoke, in consultation with the local City Councillor.
