This Motion requests authority from City Council to amend the 2022 Council Approved Capital Budget and 2023-2031 Capital Plan for Parks, Forestry and Recreation in the amount of $0.334 million for improvements to the playground in High Level Pumping Station and Park. Additional funds are required to support the scope of work that meets the needs of the community and to award a contract that exceeds the available budget.

The total project cost would be amended from $0.150 million to $0.484 million, with cash flow funding in 2022. The improvements will be fully funded from Section 42 Above 5 percent Cash-in-lieu generated from a development in proximity to the site. These funds have been received and are eligible for these purposes. Operating impacts, if required, will be submitted for consideration through future budget submissions. This Motion is urgent in order to proceed with a contract award for construction to proceed in 2022.
