As the city filed it
As you know, RentSafeTO is an important City program that is critical to the safety and viability of the homes of many Toronto residents. Major changes were made to this program in December 2020 as a result of a Staff report and Council deliberations on PH 19.6 RentSafeTO. In recommendation 14 in that item, Council requested the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards to provide annual reporting on RentSafeTO.

In March 2, 2021, this Committee requested the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards to report to its May 20, 2021 meeting on their approach to the new system Council approved in December 2020 for RentSafeTO; and what, if any, further measures were require for the success of the program. City Staff advised that they were unable to meet that deadline. City Council, in Item MM36.13 Fixing Service Gaps in RentSafeTO, on October 1 and 4, 2021, directed the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards to report back to the Planning and Housing Committee in the first quarter of 2022 on the status of initiatives Council requested to address service gaps in RentSafeTO. It would be helpful to get a general update on the RentSafeTO program that would include, but not be limited to, the above noted requests made by this Committee and Council.
