Road safety is one of the most common concerns that I hear from residents in the community, and it continues to a top priority for me as a Councillor. Vision Zero is a commitment to eliminating all traffic fatalities and injuries on our roads. While these studies are aimed at very specific roads within Beaches-East York, they exemplify many of the barriers to implementing the goal that is Vision Zero across the City of Toronto.

When there is a history of collisions in a given area and residents are consistently reaching out and telling their local councillor that they feel unsafe crossing at a particular intersection we need to listen and we need to act. There is more work to be done to bring our policies here at the City of Toronto in line with our commitment to Vision Zero and to bring about a more proactive approach to road safety in our communities.
