Currently, the City's Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program (the "Program") provides eligible registered property owners of an existing single-family residential, duplex, or triplex property within the City of Toronto, a subsidy of up to $3,400 per eligible property for the eligible installation of flood protection devices, subject to all the terms and conditions of the Program. In May of 2023, Council adopted zoning by-law amendments recommended by City Planning to permit multiplex residential dwellings (duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes) to facilitate more low-rise housing options across the City.
