The decision

2023-11-14 · North York Community Council · adopted

As filed

North York Community Council : 1. Rescinded the westbound left-turn prohibition in effect at all times at St. Clements Avenue and the driveway to premises numbers 21-45 St. Clements Avenue located on the south side of St. Clements Avenue, at a point 20 metres east of Duplex Avenue (north intersection).

On the agenda

As the city filed it

The St. Clements School in my ward has undergone an extensive construction project in order to accommodate the school community. Part of this construction included the removal of the circular driveway that was used on the old school site for pick-up and drop off. At this time, there were two no left turn signs installed on St. Clements Avenue to prevent cars from accessing this circular drive via the exit. Since the site had changed with the addition to the school, this circular drive is no longer in use, but the no left turn signs have remained posted.

These signs are now causing confusion for drivers and local police who read the signs to mean no left turn on to Duplex Avenue for westbound traffic. I request that North York Community Council vote to remove these signs to clear up the confusion as they are no longer needed by the school community to access or exit the property.
