As the city filed it

I am writing to request your support in directing Traffic Operations Staff to install a speed hump on Rushton Road, right before the intersection with Valewood Avenue. In June of 2022, two children were hit by vehicles at this intersection. Residents and concerned parents reached out to my office highlighting long-standing safety concerns at this intersection. With Valewood Avenue being a main route for students walking to Humewood Community School, it is imperative that we take immediate steps to protect the safety of our kids.

To this end, traffic operations staff advised that a speed hump prior to the intersection would be a good first step while we continue to work with Vision Zero staff over further safety improvements at this intersection.
