The Ontario government is opening a new courthouse in Toronto as part of its plan to modernize and improve access to the justice system. The fully accessible state-of-the-art courthouse will bring six Ontario Court of Justice (OCJ) criminal courts under one roof, including specialty courts, such as those for drug treatment, youth and mental health. Located at 10 Armoury Street, the new courthouse is bounded by Armoury Street, Centre Avenue and Chestnut Street.

As part of this development, various on-street parking and traffic amendments have been proposed on these roadways in order to improve barrier free parking, curbside management and also to enhance safe traffic operations in this area. The following recommendation will address this matter.

It is recommended that: 1. Toronto and East York Community Council authorize the amendments to City of Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 903, Chapter 910 and Chapter 950, parking regulations on Centre Avenue, Armoury Street, and Chestnut Street, as described in "Attachment 1: Parking and Traffic Regulations - Centre Avenue, Armoury Street, and Chestnut Street".
