Designated a taxi stand for two taxi cabs in effect at all times on the north side of Aberfoyle Crescent, between a point 56 meters east of Islington Avenue and point 12 meters further east.

This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority from City Council to make a final decision. Islington Station (Line 2) is being redeveloped as part of the Toronto Transit Commission's Easier Access program to ensure barrier-free accessibility in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). The project, scheduled from July 2023 to June 2027 includes a new street-level bus terminal, a new station entrance, a new underground pedestrian tunnel and elevators connecting the subway concourse and platform.

All construction staging operations will be occur within the site, therefore occupation of the public right-of-way is not required. During construction, bus operations will be limited within the station. To facilitate drop-off operations, Toronto Transit Commission will designate temporary bus stops on the east side of Islington Avenue and the south side of Aberfoyle Crescent. The proposed bus stop locations conflict with existing taxi cab stands. In order to accommodate the temporary bus stops, Transportation Services is requesting authorization to relocate the taxi cab stands on the above-mentioned roadways to north side of Aberfoyle Crecent, between a point 56 meters east of Islington Avenue and point 12 meters further east. from April 2025 to June 2027 inclusive.

The Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services, recommends that: 1. Etobicoke York Community Council rescind the existing designated stand for two taxicabs in effect at all times on the south side of Aberfoyle Crescent, between a point 20 meters east of Islington Avenue and point 12 meters further east from April 9, 2025 to June 30, 2027 inclusive. 2. Etobicoke York Community Council designate a taxi stand for two taxi cabs in effect at all times on the north side of Aberfoyle Crescent, between a point 56 meters east of Islington Avenue and point 12 meters further east.
