The decision

2025-10-21 · Etobicoke York Community Council · deferred

As filed

The Etobicoke York Community Council: 1. Deferred consideration of the item until the November 26, 2025 meeting of the Etobicoke York Community Council.

On the agenda

As the city filed it

As part of the Vision Zero Road Safety Plan, all speed limits in Ward 5 have been reduced to 30 km/h on local roads, as defined under the City's Road Classification System, including public lanes and alleys. However, Glen Scarlett Road, from Gunns Road to Symes Road, is located within an industrial/employment area with no residential properties. Given the nature of this corridor and its surrounding land use, it is recommended that the speed limit on Glen Scarlett Road, from Gunns Road to Symes Road, be set at 40 km/h.

Staff recommended

That: 1. Etobicoke York Community Council amend the existing speed limit from 30 km/h to 40 km/h on Glen Scarlett Road, between Gunns Road and Symes Road 2. Etobicoke York Community Council authorize the amendment of Schedule XLV (Part 1) to City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 950, Traffic and Parking, to add Glen Scarlett Road, between Gunns Road and Symes Road, to be omitted from the Designated Area such that this portion of highway will then be excluded from the corresponding designated area in Column 1 in Schedule XLV (Part 1).
