As the proposed street closures involve a motor vehicle race and takes place on a major arterial road, City Council approval is required. Temporary closures to vehicular traffic will be required on Lake Shore Boulevard West, between Strachan Avenue and Ontario Drive, and on Strachan Avenue, between Fleet Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West, to facilitate the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto automobile race in 2025.

It is anticipated that the temporary closures will be from July 16, 2025 to July 21, 2025. In the event of a delay or cancellation of the race on Sunday, July 20, 2025, the final race will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025. Section 937-3.1 of City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 937, Temporary Closing of Highways. Currently delegates authority to the General Manager of Transportation Services to temporarily close to vehicular and pedestrian traffic any highway or portion thereof for such periods as required for the purpose of the 2024 Honda Indy Toronto automobile race. Transportation Services is requesting that this delegation be amended to update the delegation for the purposes of the 2025 Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto automobile race.
