On March 6, 2024, during a community consultation for the proposed development at 87 Ethel Avenue, residents raised ongoing concerns regarding traffic volumes on Ryding Avenue and the anticipated increase in vehicular activity, particularly with respect to pedestrian and neighbourhood safety.

In response, a petition was submitted requesting the conversion of Ryding Avenue to a one-way eastbound street. On April 30, 2025, a motion was adopted to implement the one-way eastbound conversion. With this measure now in place and effectively reducing through traffic, the existing traffic island is no longer required and may be removed.
