On the agenda
As the city filed it
Residents on Highland Crescent continue to experience serious traffic safety issues, driven largely by traffic infiltration caused by high volumes of traffic on York Mills Road and Bayview Avenue, and the routing of traffic through the neighbourhood by navigation apps. Many of the vehicles exceed the local speed limits. Two community petitions showed very strong support for traffic calming in the form of speed humps for Highland Crescent both between York Mills Road and Birchwood Avenue, as well as between Birchwood Avenue and Bayview Avenue.

This motion seeks authorization for Transportation Services to install speed humps, as an added traffic calming measure, to deter such behaviour and ensure motorists maintain safe speeds while traveling through the neighbourhood. The motion proposes speed humps on Highland Crescent between Beechwood Avenue and Birchwood Avenue, as well as between Birchwood Avenue and Bayview Avenue. Both are in line with recent warrant studies undertaken by Traffic Operations.
