On the agenda

As the city filed it

I have heard from residents on Gilbert Avenue, between Kitchener Avenue and Eglinton Avenue West, who have shared concerns about speeding vehicles travelling through this community. Gilbert Avenue extends south from Eglinton Avenue West and often attracts drivers seeking to bypass traffic on busy roads. Residents have shared their experiences with near accidents as they and their children walk down this street. In a survey my office hand-delivered to homes, residents strongly supported installing speed humps as a traffic calming measure.

I also heard directly from residents at their doors, and many confirmed the urgent need for traffic safety measures on this section of Gilbert Avenue. Traffic calming measures are already in place on other sections of Gilbert Avenue, and installing speed humps on the remaining section will complete this network. These additional measures will help cut down on speeding, reduce cut-through traffic, and improve safety for all.
