Public Appointments to the Committee
At its meeting held December 15, 16, and 17, 2021, (Item CA26.3) City Council appointed the following members to the Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee for a term of office from December 18, 2021 to November 14, 2022: Cynthia Bell-Clayton Leonard Benoit Nora Boyer Isaac Crosby Chris Lefebvre Christine Luza Saige McMahon Patricia Pettigrew Tristen Schneider Suzanne Stewart In addition, the seat previously held by Regina Hartwick was declared vacant effective October 22, 2021 and was filled as part of this process.

The City Manager and the Director, Indigenous Affairs Office, will give a presentation on the City's first Reconciliation Action Plan. The Reconciliation Action Plan has been developed to map and guide the actions that the City of Toronto/Toronto Public Service will take from 2022-2032 and beyond to achieve truth, justice, and reconciliation.

The Executive Director, Native Child and Family Services of Toronto and Member, Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee, will give a presentation on the Indigenous Funding Framework. Social Development and Finance Administration is working with Indigenous leaders to develop a Funding Framework to allocate funding to Indigenous organizations and groups. The development of the funding framework builds on earlier work to decolonize granting, including amending the Toronto Grants Policy. When complete in 2022, the Funding Framework will both increase the amount of funding allocated to Indigenous organizations and recognize the importance of self-determination in the use of funding. This presentation aims to update the Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee and garner their comments.

Proposed Official Naming of the Recreation Centre at 100 Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Lane
The Director, Policy and Strategic Planning, Parks, Forestry and Recreation, will give a presentation on the Proposed Official Naming of the Recreation Centre at 100 Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Lane. This presentation will provide an overview of the first City of Toronto community centre and first Toronto Public Library branch to be named by an Indigenous community, and describe the collaborative process between the City of Toronto, Toronto Public Library, and the Huron-Wendat Nation to explore extending the name Ethennonhawastishnen' to the new facility. It seeks the Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee's advice on approaches to support Indigenous placemaking onsite.
The Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee: 1. Expressed its support for the name "Ethennonnhawahstihnen'", and requested the Director, Policy and Strategic Planning, Parks, Forestry and Recreation, to return to the next meeting of the Committee to give the presentation.

Jane Finch Initiative Indigenous Engagement Strategy
The Assistant Planner, City Planning, will give a presentation on the Jane Finch Initiative Indigenous Engagement Strategy and seek feedback from the Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee. The Jane Finch Initiative is a City of Toronto and resident-led project to plan for the future of the Jane and Finch area. Together, we are developing a community development plan and a land use plan so that residents and businesses are supported as the area changes over time with the opening of the Finch West LRT.
