Scott McKean, Manager, Community Safety Wellbeing Planning, Social Development, Finance and Administration, City of Toronto, and Michael Callaghan, Crown Attorney, Ministry of the Attorney General, Government of Ontario, will give a presentation on Justice Centres in Toronto, a new low barrier and high impact option for individuals who would benefit from comprehensive supports in a community-based setting.

Lauren Kimura, Urban Fellow, Indigenous Affairs Office, City of Toronto, and Mandy Wesley, LL.B., Consultant, will give a presentation on the City of Toronto's Response to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. This presentation will provide an update on the City of Toronto's role and responsibilities in implementing the recommendations from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Findings from the Indigenous Affairs Office's consultations with community members and staff and the next steps for the project will be discussed.
The Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee recommends to the Executive Committee that: 1. City Council request the Director, Indigenous Affairs Office, in consultation with the Medical Officer of Health and the Executive Director, Social Development, Finance and Administration, to report to the appropriate Committee on the implementation of an Indigenous community-led pilot project, overseen by the Toronto Aboriginal Support Services Council and Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre, to address community safety, harm reduction, conflict and crisis response, and peacekeeping from an Indigenous-led perspective, as outlined in Communication AA3.3.1 from the Toronto Aboriginal Support Services Council. 2. City Council request the Director, Indigenous Affairs Office, in consultation with relevant staff, to report to the appropriate Committee on the establishment of a permanent City of Toronto "Calls to Justice" Office, as outlined in Communication AA3.3.2 from Andrea Chrisjohn, Committee member.

Indigenous-Newcomer Relations in Toronto
Vera Dodic, Manager, Toronto Newcomer Office, Social Development, Finance and Administration, City of Toronto, and Muna Gaye, Community Development Officer, Toronto Newcomer Office, Social Development, Finance and Administration, City of Toronto, will give a presentation on Indigenous-Newcomer Relations in Toronto. The presentation will provide an update on the Toronto Newcomer Office's vision and plans to strengthen Indigenous-Newcomer relationships in Toronto in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action.

Revised 2020 Schedule of Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee Meetings
The Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee, at its meeting on November 22, 2019, requested the City Clerk to consult with the Co-Chairs and the Manager, Indigenous Affairs Office, on additional Committee meetings in 2020, subject to City Council's decision on Item AA2.6, Frequency of Meetings and Quorum. City Council, at its meeting on December 17 and 18, 2019, amended the Terms of Reference for the Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee. The Committee can now hold up to six meetings per year at the call of the Chair or Co-Chairs. In consultation with the Co-Chairs, the Director, Indigenous Affairs Office, and the members, Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee, the following meetings have been scheduled for 2020: - Tuesday February 11 - Monday April 20 - Thursday June 18 - Wednesday August 26 - Tuesday October 13 - Tuesday December 15 All meetings will begin at 9:30 a.m. and be held at Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West, in Committee Room 1 which is located on the second floor. Please note that the meeting schedule is available on the City of Toronto's website at: www.toronto.ca/council.
