Introduction and Enactment of a General Bill and a Confirming Bill
City Council will introduce and enact a General By-law to confirm the appointment of a Councillor for Ward 1, Etobicoke North, and a Confirming By-law to confirm the proceedings of this special meeting.

Appointment to fill the vacancy in Ward 1, Etobicoke North
The purpose of this report is to appoint a qualified person to the office of Councillor, Ward 1, Etobicoke North.
City Council on June 24, 2022, appointed Rosemarie Bryan to the Office of Councillor, Ward 1, Etobicoke North, for the remainder of this term of Council. City Council also appointed Rosemarie Bryan to the following, effective June 24, 2022: a. the Audit Committee for a term of office until November 14, 2022 and until a successor is appointed; and b. the Economic and Community Development Committee for a term of office until November 14, 2022 and until a successor is appointed.

The City Clerk recommends that: 1. City Council appoint a person from among the following persons who have signified in writing that they are legally qualified to hold the office of Councillor and have consented to accept the office if they are appointed to fill the vacancy of Councillor, Ward 1, Etobicoke North: 1. - O Canada - Moment of Silence
CALL TO ORDER: 1:08 p.m. Speaker Nunziata took the Chair and called the Members to order. The meeting opened with O Canada. Members of Council observed a moment of silence and personal reflection. Speaker Nunziata gratefully acknowledged that City Council was meeting on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenasaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. Speaker Nunziata also acknowledged that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit. Speaker Nunziata advised Council of the following: For the benefit of those who are connected to the internet, the City Clerk has posted all of the agenda materials for today's meeting at toronto.ca/council. This meeting is being held as a hybrid meeting. Members of Council, staff, candidates and the public are participating in today's meeting remotely and in person, and the meeting is being streamed live on YouTube. I'd like to welcome the candidates and other members of the public who are with us here today, and who are watching the meeting online.
