Micromobility Strategy Development - Accessibility Feedback
A presentation will be provided by Janet Lo, Senior Project Manager, Transportation Services Division to seek input on the work underway to develop a micromobility strategy for a report back to Council in May 2024. Micromobility describes small, low-speed vehicles that are lighter weight than cars and can include bicycles, cargo bikes/trikes, folding bikes, electric two, three, or four-wheeled cycles, electric mini-cars that can carry two people, e-mopeds, and electric kick-scooters (e-scooters). The strategy will clarify what types of micromobility are allowed to be used and where, and what potential pilot projects may be considered.
The Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee recommends that the Infrastructure and Environment Committee recommend that: 1. City Council direct the General Manager, Transportation Services conduct no further electric kick-scooter (e-scooter) pilots or trials, because e-scooters: a. present a significant safety hazard; b. cause serious injuries; c. are a barrier to accessibility; and d. enforcement is untenable.

Our Plan Toronto: Chapter One Review - Accessibility Feedback
A presentation will be made by Jeff Cantos, Manager, Official Plan and Legislation, City Planning to provide an update on Our Plan Toronto: Chapter One Review. Jeff will provide an overview of the process to date, as well as an outline of the draft including Indigenous Planning Perspectives, our 2051 vision statement, priorities, principles and next steps.
The Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee recommends that the Planning and Housing Committee: 1. Request the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning, in consultation with the Executive Director, Housing Secretariat, to study as part of the Chapter One review of the Official Plan and implementation work: a. how to best build more accessible housing units; and b. limitations of the Neighbourhoods policy as it prevents more density and new accessible housing apartment units. 2. Request the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning to report back to the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee on it's May 6, 2024 meeting, with an updated presentation which demonstrates how the Official Plan - Chapter 1 will incorporate accessibility considerations including AODA's Design of Public Spaces and the Toronto Accessibility Design Guidelines.

Ensuring Safe and Accessible Routes in Construction Work Zones
Stuart McGhie, A/R Manager, Traffic Management, Work Zone Coordination and Traffic Mitigation will provide a presentation on Ensuring Safe and Accessible Routes in Construction Work Zones. Toronto is experiencing an unprecedented level of construction, with over 250 tower cranes in operation, multiple surface-level and below ground transit construction, and a large state of good repair program to upgrade aging road, water and utility infrastructure. The initiative to ensure safety and accessibility in construction zones is a broad effort involving all the City's divisions responsible for capital works, as well as contractors, constructors, utilities, developers, and other public agencies.

Cycling, Sidewalks and Accessibility: 2023 Highlights and 2024 Goals
Kanchan Maharaj, Senior Engineer, Cycling and Pedestrian Projects and Igor Samardzic, Project Lead, Cycling and Pedestrian Projects, Transportation Services will make a presentation, which focuses on the achievements and goals in cycling, sidewalks, and accessibility within the Cycling and Pedestrian Projects unit. It details the expansion of cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, including sidewalks and bikeways, with an emphasis on improving accessibility, safety, and comfort for seniors, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable road users. Additionally, the presentation outlines specific accomplishments from 2023 and sets goals for 2024 to further enhance sidewalk delivery and accessibility.

Storefront Entry Ramps on the Public Right-of-Way
Charissa Iogna, Senior Project Manager (A), Transportation Services will provide a presentation on temporary Storefront Entry Ramps on the Public Right-of-Way as directed by Infrastructure and Environment Committee. This presentation will provide an update on the reporting history, consultation findings, and an overview of the Placement Guidelines of temporary ramps being used by storefronts with a stepped entrance that abuts the public right-of-way.
