Safe Drinking Water Act - Standard of Care Training for Members of City Council
At its meeting on February 7 and 8, 2023, and as part of its decision on IE1.7, City Council directed that all members of Toronto City Council be offered the Standard of Care training course provided by the Walkerton Clean Water Centre in order to become better informed of their responsibilities under the Safe Drinking Water Act. The purpose of this training session is to equip Members of City Council with a comprehensive understanding of their oversight responsibilities under Section 19 of the Safe Drinking Water Act. It is important that elected officials understand their responsibilities and act in accordance to ensure the protection and safety of the users of municipal drinking water systems. Training materials provided by the Walkerton Clean Water Centre will be made available to Members of Council through the Clerk's Meeting Portal, for review in advance of the meeting.
The Infrastructure and Environment Committee: 1. Received the presentation from the General Manger, Toronto Water for information. 2. Directed that Confidential Attachments 1 and 2 remain confidential in their entirety as they contain certain proprietary information supplied in confidence to the municipality.
