Energy Retrofit Project - Request for Proposal 18 (2018-03)
This report will recommend the award of the Energy Retrofit contract for the Toronto Zoo site. The Energy Retrofit Project will serve to reduce energy and water consumption, upgrade capital energy-related equipment, improve building operations and maintenance, while saving costs. The project will coincide with the Toronto Zoo's environmental and natural resources conservation platform.

Smoke-Free and Vaporizer-Free Designation - Toronto Zoo
This report will propose that the Toronto Zoo becomes a designated smoke-free and vaporizer-free environment. This designation would mean the elimination of the use of tobacco products and smoking such as cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, mini-cigars, pipes, water pipes, hookah, shisha, and cannabis on the Zoo site. It also includes the elimination of the use of electronic smoking devices which create an aerosol or vapor, or the use of any oral smoking device. The smoke-free and vaporizer-free designation would initially apply to all guests and eventually all staff who are in, or around, any Toronto Zoo owned, buildings, properties and vehicles.

Volunteer Services Report 2018
The purpose of this report is to review and update the Board of Management on the activities of the Volunteer Services Unit for the year 2018. The volunteer team consists of Year-Round Volunteers, Summer Volunteers, Volunteer Hosts, Wildlife Health Centre Volunteers, and Zoo Ambassador Student Volunteers. All volunteers support the Zoo's educational programs by interacting with guests, helping to raise public awareness and involvement in conservation, interpreting the zoogeographic and ecological relationships of the animal and plant kingdoms, and enhancing the experience of each Toronto Zoo guest with whom they come in contact. In 2018, a team of 430 volunteers donated 34,106 hours of their time to the Toronto Zoo reaching an estimated 772,857 people.

Education Programs Report 2018
This report focuses on the primary activities and achievements of the Education Branch at the Toronto Zoo for the year 2018. Education oversees a wide variety of different programs throughout the year that support key components of the Strategic Plan and further educational goals. These include school program offerings and teacher resources, as well as a roster of public programs for a variety of audiences/ages and summer camps. Overall program participation and revenues in 2018 were amongst the highest on record with revenue up 28.6 percent over 2017 (labour disruption year), generating overall $1,042,660, and participation up by 43.6 percent over the preceding year. Bookings for fee-based school programs increased by 49.4 percent over 2017, with a particularly large increase at the secondary level, which increased 81.3 percent. Core revenue generating programs such as Bush Camp, Zoo Camp, Zoo School, and the Valentine's adult program, continue to show strong participation and revenue generation. Also, included is a summary of curatorial outreach programs which are administered by the Conservation and Wildlife Division.
