At the Cecil Community Centre Board of Management meeting on November 29, 2018, the Board members unanimously voted in favour of the appointment of Andrew Reddin, Nicolas Cole and Adam Mamdani by the Toronto and East York Community Council to the Board of Management of Cecil Community Centre. Upon learning of Ms. Yeung, Mr. Breckon and Ms. Li's resignations, the Governance Committee of the Board of Management commenced a search for suitable candidates to fill these vacancies.

The Governance Committee, among other duties, reviewed the role, responsibilities and required skills of a Board member and identified additional desirable skills, those being: fundraising, children, youth and seniors' issues, legal, and human resources. Mr. Reddin, Mr. Cole and Mr. Mamdani were screened and interviewed by the Governance Committee their skills and backgrounds met the criteria and fit best with the immediate priorities facing the organization. Consistent with the Cecil Community Centre Constitution, Mr. Reddin, Mr. Cole and Mr. Mamdani's candidacies was presented to the Board for approval at their meeting on November 29, 2018. Appointments to the Cecil Community Centre Board of Management is a matter for which the Community Council has been delegated authority from City Council to make a final decision, provided that the recommendations do not vary from the Public Appointments Policy. Mr. Reddin, Mr. Cole and Mr. Mamdani are qualified to serve on the Board of Management pursuant to the relevant provisions of the City of Toronto By-law - Chapter 25 of the former City of Toronto Municipal Code - the Relationship Framework for Board-operated Community Centres and the Public Appointments Policy. On behalf of the Board of Management, I respectfully request the City take the necessary steps to implement the above-requested appointments.

The Toronto and East York Community Council approve the following: 1. In accordance with the election held by the membership of Cecil Street Community Centre, the Board of Management recommends that the Toronto and East York Community Council appoint, at the pleasure of Council, the following nominees, to the Board of Management for a for a term commencing November 29, 2018 and ending June 30, 2020, or when a successor is appointed. Andrew Reddin, Nicolas Cole Adam Mamdani
