The Toronto and East York Community Council: 1. Re‐opened Item TE18.90, headed "Traffic Calming - Speed Humps - Rowntree Avenue, between Old Weston Road and Prescott Avenue". 2. Deleted Parts 1 and 2 of the Toronto and East York Community Council decision on Item TE18.90 and adopted the following instead: Waive the polling requirements and authorize the installation of speed humps on Rowntree Avenue, between Old Weston Road and Prescott Avenue.

Direct the City Solicitor to prepare a by-law to alter sections of the roadway on Rowntree Avenue, between Old Weston Road and Prescott Avenue, to install five speed humps, generally as shown on the attached copy of Drawing No. 421G-3773, dated August 2020. 3. Adopted the following new recommendation: Reduce the existing speed limit from 40 km/h to 30 km/h on Rowntree Avenue, between Old Weston Road and Prescott Avenue.

Residents contacted my office in December 2019, requesting the introduction of safety measures on Rowntree Avenue as traffic volumes and the speed at which vehicles are travelling on this street have increased. Speed hump studies have been conducted on this road and we have advocated for more police enforcement as a means of helping improve safety but additional measures are needed.
