B(6) and B(7) and Section 742-10.4 C(1) and C(3) of the Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 742, Sidewalk Cafés, Parklets and Marketing Displays, for the 2023 CaféTO season but require the affected permit holders to do the following during that period: a.

This Motion requests authority from City Council to proceed with the installation of two curb lane CaféTO patios on Queen Street East. My office would like to support two small businesses that had their CaféTO applications denied due to the presence of utility locates (man hole covers) where the curb lane patio would be placed. Due to the required platform regulation introduced in the 2023 CaféTO program, Bud's Coffee Bar and Chowpatty Culture were ineligible from participation.

In previous years, both businesses successfully participated in the program to assist with safe dining during the COVID-19 pandemic and to bring in much needed revenue. This matter is time sensitive and urgent as City Council approval is required to enable the installation of these CaféTO patios within a reasonable timeframe.
