Mayor Tory commented that Michael is a true professional in every sense of the word, and described him as steady, capable, decent, honest, firm, and public-spirited. Mayor Tory acknowledged that Mr. D'Andrea and his team of 650 professionals and technical staff in recent years are collectively responsible for delivering one billion dollars in municipal capital projects on time. Mayor Tory remarked that Mr. D'Andrea is a real champion of people, a strong promoter of the United Way, and truly cares about his staff and the City. Mayor Tory thanked Mr. D'Andrea for his service and being an excellent example of professional public servant, and wished him a long, happy and healthy retirement. Deputy Mayor McKelvie, Chair, Infrastructure and Environment Committee, addressed City Council and thanked Michael D'Andrea for his excellent work and steadfast commitment to making the City a better place. Deputy Mayor McKelvie commented that Michael is respected by his peers that they recently presented him with the 2021 Ontario Professional Engineers Engineering Medal for Management Award in recognition of his excellent and very important work. Deputy Mayor McKelvie remarked that everybody holds Michael in high regard, not only for his wonderful achievements, but also because of the way he approached his work throughout his career, including putting people at the core of what he does and his commitment to ethics, equity and integrity. Deputy Mayor McKelvie, on behalf of the Members of Council and Mayor Tory, thanked Mr. D'Andrea for his outstanding service and wished him success. Mayor Tory and Deputy Mayor McKelvie presented a plaque to Michael D'Andrea. Councillor Fletcher addressed City Council and acknowledged Michael D'Andrea for his work in the City's Wet Weather Flow Master Plan. Councillor Fletcher commented that Mr. D'Andrea is a truly professional leader, and wished him the best on his retirement. Councillor Perruzza addressed City Council and remarked that Michael D'Andrea will be missed as he leaves the City. Speaker Nunziata addressed City Council and thanked Michael D'Andrea for his work and support, and remarked that Mr. D'Andrea will be missed. Michael D'Andrea addressed City Council and thanked Mayor Tory, Deputy Mayor McKelvie and all Members of Council for their kind words. Mr. D'Andrea commented that it is an honor and privilege serving as Chief Engineer for the last 9 and a half years, and expressed his gratitude to his talented and professional team for their dedication and perseverance. Mr. D'Andrea acknowledged City Council's stewardship and direction to act on what Council considered as priorities, and thanked Members of Council for their support and collaborative working relationships. Mr. D'Andrea stated that he is proud of all the things that were accomplished together and encouraged new Members of Council to get to know the talented team of other division heads to shed light in the complexity of their work. Mr. D'Andrea thanked City Manager Paul Johnson, Deputy City Manager Tracey Cook and the entire Senior Leadership Team for their leadership and support, the Corporate Leadership Team of division heads for their friendship and camaraderie, and the entire Engineering and Construction Services management team for their leadership and unfailing support. Michael D'Andrea also recognized his wife, children and their families, and wished Members of Council a very successful term ahead. Councillor Moise, during the morning session of the meeting, addressed City Council and advised Members of Council that the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year. Councillor Moise remarked that it is an honour to represent the Ward where the historic schoolhouse stands and to see that foundations, like the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse Foundation, continue to strive for the Schoolhouse's founding belief of universal access to public education. Councillor Moise wished the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse a very happy 175th anniversary. Councillor Cheng, during the morning session of the meeting, addressed City Council and led Members of Council in singing happy birthday to Speaker Nunziata and Councillor Pasternak.
