The decision

2024-01-24 · Toronto and East York Community Council · adopted

As filed

The Toronto and East York Community Council: 1. Prohibited stopping at all times on the west side of Scarth Road, between South Drive and a point 12.4 metres north.

On the agenda

As the city filed it

The parking by-laws on Scarth Road at South Drive require amendment. Vehicles chronically stop at the north/west corner of Scarth Road, at South Drive, obstructing the pedestrian walk. This creates an unsafe crossing situation, particularly for pedestrians with accessible needs. In order to deter stopping in this area, Transportation Services recommends increasing the corner parking prohibition from its current "No Parking Anytime" regulation to a "No Stopping Anytime" regulation.

This will help deter drivers from blocking the pedestrian path and improve sightlines, particularly for pedestrians with accessible needs. There will be no loss of on-street parking with this parking amendment.
