The project has begun and is scheduled for completion in June 2026. Construction is being undertaken in several phases, with varying degrees of sidewalk and lane closures taking place on Melinda Street, Yonge Street, and Colborne Street.

These closures have reduced the number of loading/unloading spaces in the area which many businesses rely on for their day-to-day operations. The purpose of this motion is to authorize the installation of a commercial loading zone on the north side of Wellington Street West, west of Yonge Street to accommodate local business needs for the duration of the remaining construction works.
