The Toronto and East York Community Council: 1. Authorized the installation of traffic calming (speed humps) on Norway Avenue between Lee Avenue and Elmer Avenue. 2. Directed the City Solicitor to prepare a by-law to alter the roadway to install six speed humps on Norway Avenue between Lee Avenue and Elmer Avenue, generally as shown on Attachments 1 and 2 to the letter (October 22, 2024) from Councillor Brad Bradford.

My office heard from residents on Norway Avenue (between Lee Avenue and Elmer Avenue) about a collision between a speeding vehicle and a cyclist. The community requested a petition to determine if there was enough support to install speed humps to prevent an incident like this from happening again.

Staff recommended

It is recommended that: 1. Toronto and East York Community Council authorize the installation of traffic calming (speed humps) on Norway Avenue between Lee Avenue and Elmer Avenue. 2. Toronto and East York Community Council direct the City Solicitor to prepare a by-law to alter the roadway to install six speed humps on Norway Avenue between Lee Avenue and Elmer Avenue, generally as shown on the attached Drawing No. TC-373, TC-374, dated October 2024 from the Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services.
