On the agenda

As the city filed it

This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority from City Council to make a final decision. Transportation Services is recommending parking amendments and a U-turn prohibition on Slan Avenue to improve traffic flow and safety for all road users in front of Heather Heights Junior Public School. The proposed parking amendments include the removal of the existing school bus loading zone, as it is no longer required.

Additionally, the short-term parking area will be adjusted and stopping will be prohibited in front of the school's driveways to keep the area clear of parked vehicles. Finally, a U-turn prohibition is proposed for both sides of the street to improve sightlines and reduce collision risks. The proposed changes will create additional parking spaces for parents and guardians to pick-up and drop-off students, enhance visibility, and create a safer environment for students, parents, and other road users. These recommendations are in consultation with the school principal, a school representative, Green Communities Canada, and the Councillor's office.
