Mayor Chow addressed City Council and gave remarks to celebrate Olympic Medalists from the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics with ties to Toronto. Mayor Chow recognized Piper Gilles, from Team Canada's figure skating team, Tom Wilson, from the men's hockey team, and Sophie Jaques, Daryl Watts, Claire Thompson, and Natalie Spooner from the women's hockey team, who were present in the Council Chamber. Mayor Chow introduced Gina Kingsbury, General Manager of Team Canada and the Toronto Sceptres, and invited her to the podium to receive a congratulatory scroll on behalf of Team Canda. Councillor Kandavel, during the morning session of the meeting, advised Members of Council about the February 13, 2026, North American debut of the Orchestral Qawwali Project, presented by Small World Music at Meridian Hall. Councillor Burnside, during the morning session of the meeting, advised Members of Council about the arrival in Ontario of His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on his first official visit to Canada. Deputy Mayor Malik, during the morning session of the meeting, advised Members of Council about the results of this year's United Way employee campaign at the City of Toronto. Councillor Cheng, during the morning session of the meeting, wished the Iranian community across Toronto and around the world a Happy Nowruz, and advised Members of Council that the holiday was celebrated on March 20 as a launch to Spring. Councillor Cheng noted that this year's celebration came at a challenging time due to the protests in Iran, and announced that a gathering in Willowdale will take place on Saturday. Councillor Bradford, during the morning session of the meeting, welcomed grades 4 and 5 students from Adam Beck Junior Public School and their teachers who were present in the Council Chamber. Councillor Bradford, during the morning session of the meeting, welcomed Mayor Vania Ferreira, Mayor of Praia da Vitória, Portugal, who was present in the Council Chamber, joined by a delegation and by leaders from Toronto's Portuguese Community, including Joe Da Silva, Vice-President of the general assembly of Casa da Madeira and José Da Silva. Councillor Bravo, during the morning session of the meeting, addressed Mayor Ferreira. Speaker Nunziata, during the afternoon session of the meeting, called upon Mayor Chow to address City Council to recognize Will Johnston, Deputy City Manager, Infrastructure and Development Services on his retirement. Councillor Perks, during the afternoon session of the meeting, thanked David Stonehouse, Director, Waterfront Secretariat, for his contributions to the City of Toronto, advised Members of Council that this was David's last Council meeting, and wished him all the best. Councillor Chernos Lin, during the afternoon session of the meeting, invited Members of Council to the Passover receptions taking place in the rotunda that evening and on Monday night. March 26, 2026 Councillor Cheng, during the morning session of the meeting, welcomed pastors from churches across the Greater Toronto Area, who were present in the Council Chamber. Councillor Myers, during the morning session of the meeting, gave remarks about the late Leslie Newton Forbes. Councillor Perruzza, during the morning session of the meeting, welcomed students from the Seneca@York Municipal Government Relations class and their Professor, Andrew Pask, who were present in the Council Chamber. Councillor Ainslie, during the morning session of the meeting, invited Members of Council to visit the Members' Lounge over the lunch period for the artificial intelligence project showcase featuring the Mayor's AI awards recipients. Speaker Nunziata, during the afternoon session of the meeting, called upon Mayor Chow to address City Council to recognize the recipients of the Mayor's artificial intelligence (AI) awards. Mayor Chow addressed City Council and gave remarks to recognize and congratulate the recipients of the Mayor's Artificial Intelligence Awards: Data Enabled Recreation Planning, 311 Virtual Assistant, TechAssist - IT Virtual Assistant, and Building Permit Application Precheck. Councillor Bravo, during the afternoon session of the meeting, advised Members of Council that March 24 was the 50th anniversary of the military coup in Argentina. Councillor Bravo spoke about the 400 infants stolen from their mothers in captivity and welcomed Marcela Solsona Sintora, who had been among the stolen infants, and was present in the Council Chamber.
