On the agenda
As the city filed it
My office has heard from local residents concerned about conflicting parking regulations on Sheppard Street between Richmond Street West and Adelaide Street West. I requested a review from Traffic Operations, which identified several safety and operational issues related to the narrow pavement width, two‑way traffic, and vehicles parking on both sides of the street. When cars park too close to intersections, they reduce visibility for both pedestrians and approaching drivers.

Parked vehicles also force motorists to move into oncoming traffic to pass, and they hinder snow clearing and street‑cleaning operations. To eliminate conflicting regulations and ensure that Toronto Police Service can issue tickets accurately and fairly, the proposed parking amendments will correct signage inconsistencies, improve sightlines for pedestrian and driver safety, and support better traffic flow for all road users.
