2022 Environmental Initiatives Report
The purpose of this report is to update the Board of Management on environmental priorities and initiatives achieved for the Toronto Zoo in 2022. The Toronto Zoo continues to complete projects to improve energy efficiency, water conservation, waste diversion, and employee and public engagement to reduce its overall carbon footprint. 2022 was the first year guided by the new TZNet0 Environmental Sustainability Plan in and projects have been initiated to achieve the TZNet0 targets by 2030.

In accordance with Section 35(a) of By-law 1-2012 the Procedures By-law of the Board of Management of Toronto Zoo, this letter serves as notice that the Board will consider amendments to the Procedures By-law at the next meeting of the Board of Management of Toronto Zoo. The amendments are related to permitting the continuation of electronic participation at meetings and the time required to achieve quorum increased from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. City Council at its meeting on March 29, 30 and 31, 2023 considered Item EX3.7 Making Electronic Participation for Council and its Local Boards Permanent and, among other things, has authorized local boards to also amend their rules of procedure with respect to these matters without having to seek further Council approval.
