As filed

Scarborough Community Council: 1. Reduced the speed limit from 50 km/h to 40 km/h on Durnford Road, between Rylander Boulevard and Sheppard Avenue East.

On the agenda

As the city filed it

Durnford Road, between Rylander Boulevard and Sheppard Avenue East, is classified as a collector road. This highway is on the frontage of residential properties and Rouge Valley Public School. There is no TTC service on this route. Although the regulatory speed limit on Durnford Road is 50 km/h, the posted speed limit is 40 km/h. It appears the signs have been in place for some time without a by-law in place to support the posted 40 km/h speed limit.

In order for the 40 km/h speed limit to be enforceable, an amendment to the by-law is required. My office has consulted with staff from Transportation Services regarding the recommended speed limit regulation change and staff do not hold objection to the recommendation.

Staff recommended

Councillor McKelvie recommends that: 1. Scarborough Community Council reduce the speed limit from 50 km/h to 40 km/h on Durnford Road, between Rylander Boulevard and Sheppard Avenue East.
