This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority to make a final decision, provided that it is not amended so that it varies with City Policy or by-laws. Transportation Services staff have reviewed the need for traffic calming, specifically speed humps on Montrose Avenue, between College Street and Dundas Street West, to address residents' concerns regarding vehicle speeds. Our assessment indicates the criteria as set out in the Traffic Calming Policy has not been satisfied. Therefore, traffic calming should not be installed on the subject section of Montrose Avenue.
The Toronto and East York Community Council directed: 1. The Acting Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services, request the City Clerk to poll eligible householders on Montrose Avenue, between College Street and Dundas Street West, to determine whether residents support the installation of traffic calming, in accordance with the City of Toronto Traffic Calming Policy. 2. Traffic Calming - Speed Humps - Poll Results - Hilton Avenue
This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority to make a final decision, provided that it is not amended so that it varies with City Policy or by-laws. Transportation Services is reporting on the results of the traffic calming poll undertaken on Hilton Avenue, between Melgund Road and Nina Street. The poll provided a response rate of less than 50 percent plus one ballot required by the traffic calming policy needed to confirm that there is a favourable consensus in the community to install traffic calming measure. Accordingly, continuing the process to install speed humps on Hilton Avenue, between Melgund Road and Nina Street, is not recommended.
The Toronto and East York Community Council directed: 1. Recipient of the Agnes Macphail Award
The Agnes Macphail Award was established by the Borough of East York. It continues today as an annual event to recognize an outstanding volunteer who lives within the boundaries of the former borough. The Agnes Macphail Selection Committee will be meeting on February 11th, 2019 to make their recommendation on the recipient of the 2019 Agnes Macphail Award. The Agnes Macphail Selection Committee will be submitting their recommendation on the recipient of the 2019 Agnes Macphail Award prior to the Toronto and East York Community Council meeting and the North York Community Council meeting on February 14, 2019 so that it can be considered on that date by the respective Community Council. This timing would allow the award ceremony to take place on March 24, 2019 which is the anniversary of Agnes Macphail's birth.
