Preservation Board is asked to recommend designating 66 Gerrard Street East

Ward 13, Toronto Centre

Preservation Board is asked to recommend that City Council state its intention to designate 66 Gerrard Street East, a row of three brick houses, under the Ontario Heritage Act. Designation would let council review proposed alterations or demolitions; the record says listed pre-1870 properties like this one must be designated or removed by January 1, 2027.

Why is this story here?
ContainedThe item proposes designating one property, 66 Gerrard Street East, under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. It is a single-site decision that could be reversed only with a further process, so it passes the test for bounded, contained change.Touches a narrow groupIf council states its intention and the designation takes effect, the owner and neighbours of one property at Gerrard and Church streets would see review requirements for alterations or demolitions.

Stories are ordered by how much weight a decision carries and how directly it reaches daily life. They rise as a decision date approaches and fall as they age.
