Preservation Board is asked to weigh heritage designation of 70 Gerrard Street East

Ward 13, Toronto Centre

Preservation Board is asked to weigh a staff recommendation that City Council state its intention to designate 70 Gerrard Street East under the Ontario Heritage Act. Staff concur the property meets six of the nine Ontario Regulation 9/06 criteria, and designation would let City Council review proposed alterations or demolitions.

Why is this story here?
ContainedThe item concerns one property at 70 Gerrard Street East. If designated, it is bounded to that site and reversible only through a separate process, so it passes the test for a bounded decision.Touches a narrow groupIf City Council states its intention and designation follows, the effect falls on one address and the people who use or own it, not on a broad group of residents.

Stories are ordered by how much weight a decision carries and how directly it reaches daily life. They rise as a decision date approaches and fall as they age.
